Throughout my entire life, I have been a problem-solver seeking to serve a bigger purpose. In my entrepreneurial aspirations I focused on the latter, while I developed the former through running my own small business.
In June of 2019, I began my own clothing brand. I named it GRAVITY.
After releasing my first collection, I had a loss of inspiration. One day, while I was walking around downtown Chicago with my friends, I saw a homeless man sitting by himself in the street. The harsh, cold winters in “The Windy City” would be unbelievably brutal for a person who has no other option than to sleep on the sidewalk.
After reflecting on these thoughts, I realized that I could help be a part of this solution. After much preparation and hard work, I launched my second collection, the Keep Me Warm Tour, in November of 2019. I used Adobe Photoshop and Premiere to create all of my own content to promote my business. I was able to be in complete control of my brand’s vision, and for every sweatshirt that was purchased through my website, I donated one to the homeless population of Chicago.
On December 6th, a month after selling 35 hoodies, a group of friends and I embarked on a journey downtown once again. We walked for 3 miles around the cold, windy streets of Chicago, and gave 35 hoodies to those in need.
Throughout the experiences of operating my own clothing brand and creating my own content for social media platforms to promote my business, I have learned lessons that will remain with me for the rest of my professional life. Through making videos on Premiere, graphics on Photoshop, and handling all of the packaging and distribution of my products I have learned real-life lessons that a classroom could not offer. These experiences have been a great way for me to develop my passions for social media marketing and make a positive impact on my community. As I continue to develop my creative ideas, I plan to maintain the same values as I did with the Keep Me Warm Tour.
